The posted coordinates are the starting point for your adventure of following the messages in the bottles. Your choices are either: NO, Nope, Not Here, Closer and final. Keep looking and you will find your prize – camoed preform.
To enjoy our 2017 St Joseph River Series you will need to figure out the message in the bottle or bottles to find the logbook. At times it may be easy, others more tedious. Replace the cache log exactly as you found it.
This is one of four (4) caches you can find by enjoying a day on the scenic St Joseph River. With tour guide MaxB it will take about 1 hour. If you plan to powerboat (2-3hrs), canoe or kayak the entire series will take 3 to 5 hours. The next canoe/kayak landing down river from the last cache is in Buchanan, MI (13 miles by river) so plan accordingly.
Note: Poison Ivy and mosquitos are abundant at this cache location, so be prepared to take appropriate precautions.
The other caches in this series are:
1 - Message in which Bottle -- 2017 St. Joseph River Tour
3 - Message in the bottle -- 2017 St. Joseph River Tour
4 - Message in the bottle -- 2017 St. Joseph River Tour
This cache will take you down the beautiful St Joseph River past undeveloped property and wildlife. We commonly see Deer, Geese, Great Blue Heron, Swans, Ducks, Otter, and last year we saw Bald Eagles on several occasions.
You will need a boat of some sort to complete this cache. (Canoe, kayak, motorboat). Even if you can find parking closer to the cache, we recommend against attempting to swim as the river has a strong current. We also suggest you always use a life vest (PFD) when boating on the river.
The property on both sides of the river is private property. This cache is on State waterway but not accessible from land without crossing Private property. ONLY for approach from the river. DO NOT CROSS PROPERTY FROM LAND TO ATTEMPT THIS CACHE.
The rating for this cache is based on the need for a watercraft and difficulty of locating and accessing hide. If this were in a park it would be a 3 / 2 rating.
As you are passing by the Big Orange Travel Bug Convention Center cache (GCK8ZV), be sure to wave as when we are home we often watch boats passing on the river. If you haven’t found it yet you are welcome to come ashore. Even if you have found it, stop and say hello.
