*DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS IT IS VERY DRY ON THE NOTCH. TRAILS ARE CURRENTLY OPEN BUT NO SMOKING OR OPEN FLAMES PLEASE. October 30, 2005. There are now 4 caches on this hill. See waypoints GCR53Y, GCR53W, and GC7B15.
Although the second cache is only 300 meters away, that's only if your a crow. DO NOT TRY AND GO TO IT IN A STRAIGHT LINE. It will take a bit of a stroll on the trails to get to it. But it's worth it.
This area is known to the locals as The Notch. It has great views, but you definitely earn them. Now as rainy season nears, it will be a little muddy on the trails accessing the hiding place. Please be carefull.
The starting area will be obvious once you locate it, the trick will be locating it......there are two choices.(you can thank the Capt'n for sending us over the edge....insert evil demented laugh here) Again, the canopy is heavy in places and you will have some difficulty keeping the receiver locked on the satellites. Once you reach the general area the reception will improve greatly and you should find the final hiding spot easily.
You are looking for a large lock & lock. The cache site is being shared with a small lizard. Please be carefull when getting the cache and replacing it, we don't want the critter squished.
The cache started with;
A $5 Subway gift certificate.
Winnie the Pooh pencils.
Some temporary Tatoos.
A small cross stitching kit.
The plush stuffed plane from the Capt'ns REVENGE cache just down the road.
A BMX bike toy.
A Moose (of course)
and a few other nick nacks.
