Geocache Description:

Located among the many rocks we played on as kids.

Growing up Pine grove park was a place of wonder for a young boy. The trails, the tall pines and all the American tourists who visited with shining silver trailers. It was not something we got to see often in those days. We would take our bikes and sneak into the park through a service road and find kids form other areas to play with. There was a canteen here that we used to buy an order of french fries when we got hungry.

The park was later purchased by Bowater Mersey Paper Company and in conjunction with the Nova Scotia Rhododendron Society placed the numerous "Rhodies" throuhgout the park. In the spring the entir park is awash in colour and is a must see walk. At the same tiem a number of trees were planted to try and see if non native trees could prosper here.

When Bowater, later Resolute closed the local operation, the park was transferred to the Region of Queens Municipality and it still remains open to the public for walks and is very popular year round.
