Number 1 in a series of 3 caches. I wanted to run a Geocaching event for Scout night but was struggling to find enough local non-premium rated caches to allow us to go ahead. The solution? Simples - hide a few more. So these 3 (Scout About #1, #2, #3 ) are easy walking access from the centre of Matlock - in particular the car park of a local supermarket (Free parking 3 hours). So - hopefully the Scouts will enjoy the event and also all you Geocachers out there will enjoy finding them too. Happy Caching!
The caches are all smallish camoflaged tubes (about 100mm x 30mm diameter) with 1 pull-off end, containing a log sheet (please replace in plastic bag to keep dry) and a few small swaps.
Scout About #1 is a little off the track very close to the start of a footpath over the Masson Hill area above Matlock. To access you will either need to walk up from Matlock or leave your car in a safe spot on Salter Lane as the access road to the path is Private. The Limestone Way crosses close to here and lovely views over Matlock and Riber Castle can he had from the hill.
