On January 28, 1986 America was shocked by the destruction of the space shuttle Challenger, and the death of its seven crew members.
Born out of the tragedy, the purpose of this space centers is to continue the mission of the crew. The Challenger Learning Centers are unique, hands-on learning environments designed to foster interest in math, science and technology education, as well as increase teamwork and cooperation.
With state-of-the-art resources and innovative curriculum, the Challenger Learning Center launches learners of all ages on a voyage of discovery. The Learning Center is comprised of a "Space Station" that gives students a simulated experience of working in space and a "Mission Control" modeled after Mission Control at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. Join them for an "out of this world" learning adventure!
Launch your exploration of space here for cool educational simulations, activities, news, and information. Challenger Center focuses specifically on comets, Mars, Earth, the Moon, International Space Station, the Space Shuttle, space probes, and the Solar System in general.
