How did the school gets its interesting name?
There is a Zephyr Creek in Kananaskis Country but that is over 40 km away and the creek water would have to cross the Highwood River in order to get to the school site.
The name may have come from the name of the Greek God of the West Wind, Zephyr. Makes sense since the wind just about always blows from a Westerly direction in this part of SW Alberta. This assumes someone in the District was familiar with Greek mythology.
