Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the edge of Lily Pad lake up near the top of Burke Ridge in Pinecone Burke Provincial Park. The lake is small but pretty, and is a nice place to take a break from your hiking. The lake can be accessed a number of ways; from the end of Harper road near the parking lot, or from Quarry road. It is on a trail that connects Dennett lake to the Coquitlam lake viewpoint trail, and also provides access to the Widgen access trail.

Burke mountain, especially the area near the Harper road gun range, is a maze of trails. It is extremely easy to get turned around and eventually lost. Do not go off into the park on your own if you don't know where you are going; always ensure that you are with someone that has a map and a decent knowledge of the area. The trails in the park, with a few exceptions, are narrow, rough, partially overgrown, and difficult to navigate. This is not the kind of park to go for a casual walk in running shoes, proper hiking boots are absolutely required in all areas. Another obstacle that is prevalent are creeks. Most major routes require you to cross creeks without any kind of bridge, some of them large; make sure to bring a change of socks. Finally, as this is a mountain, depending on the time of year snow can be another major issue. As when I hid the cache, snow can completely cover the trails and make them extremely difficult, if not impossible to navigate. Do not try to attempt this cache in the winter.

Unfortunately, I was unable to take way points as I made my way to the lake, so please consult a map to figure out the best route to the lake. I would recommend starting from the Harper road trail head.  The hike will take you at least four hours to complete, so ensure that you have enough daylight to make the hike out and back. While near the bottom, bikers and hikers are common, but when you get farther up near where the cache is, it is unlikely you will run into any other people. Tell another person that you are going up the mountain just in case.

The cache itself is a medium sized lock and lock. I had a shortage of swag, so unfortunately the only thing in the cache is the log book. However there is plenty of room for trackables if you feel like leaving one. As the cold weather does nasty things to pens, I did not leave one in the cache, so please bring your own. I don't imagine a lot of people go this way, but please still hide the cache well so that I don't have to go all the way back up there to replace it. Happy hunting!

Note: Coordinates might be a bit off, so I made the hint as straight forward as possible.
