Desde 1704, el paisaje de la zona identificaba la localización de Torre-Pacheco gracias a una torre, erigida junto a la iglesia de Ntra. Sra. Del Rosario, y financiada por Luis Pacheco. Este deán de la Catedral de Murcia y capellán de Felipe III, seguramente sin pretenderlo, estaba estableciendo así el asentamiento del actual pueblo
UN POCO DE HISTORIA
En 1971, el pueblo de Torre-Pacheco, tras no conseguir por parte de la Dirección General de Bellas Artes la declaración de monumento histórico artístico para su Iglesia de más de tres siglos de antigüedad, asistía a la demolición del templo, por orden de un Obispado que adujo razones pastorales. Posteriormente, se levantó la Iglesia actual, pero en el proyecto no fue incluida la construcción de una nueva torre.
En el año 2002, la Diócesis de Cartagena, a través de la Parroquia Ntra. Señora del Rosario de Torre-Pacheco, decidió convocar un concurso de ideas para la selección por parte de un jurado de un estudio que definiera la nueva torre de la Iglesia Parroquial, junto al emplazamiento de la Iglesia actual, con motivo del IV Centenario de la Parroquia. Este concurso tenía como fin principal el dotar a la localidad de la torre que históricamente identificó al municipio y que, con el paso del tiempo, desapareció injustificadamente del paisaje urbano
TORRE NUEVA
La primera piedra de la nueva torre de la Iglesia se colocó el 7 de octubre de 2005, día de la Patrona de Torre-Pacheco, Ntra. Sra. del Rosario, tras una misa en su honor.
Así, el pueblo de Torre-Pacheco vuelve a disfrutar desde hace unos años del que fuera uno de los mayores símbolos de identidad, la torre de la Iglesia; aquella que, según los más ancianos, era como un faro que se alzaba enhiesto en mitad del campo de Cartagena.

INNOVADOR DISEÑO
La nueva torre cuenta con un moderno diseño. De día, el resultado es una geometría sencilla pero rotunda, un volumen prismático y continuo en altura, diferenciándose de la Iglesia, con formas escarpadas, con el objeto de que ambos volúmenes queden resaltados. El material empleado son bloques de gran tamaño de piedra del Cabezo Gordo, alabastro (material en el que está elaborada la Virgen del Pasico) en la parte superior y vidrio transparente en la parte más alta, donde se ve la maquinaria antigua de un reloj
De noche, la torre se ve como un halo de luz interior, que comenzará a manifestarse sensiblemente con los primeros despieces de alabastro y, conforme este pierda grosor, irá aumentando su luminosidad hasta llegar a la transparencia total del vidrio, continuándose en vertical hasta difuminarse en el cielo
El día 7 de octubre de 2010, tras treinta y ocho años de silencio, sonaron de nuevo las campanas, siendo su inauguración el 6 de enero de 2011. Fue el primer acto en conmemoración del 175º aniversario de la constitución del ayuntamiento de Torre Pacheco (datado en 1836).

Esculpido en forma oval, como corresponde a una dignidad eclesiástica, sin yelmo ni corona; contiene cuatro cuarteles correspondiendo a los Pacheco, Arróniz, Pérez de Barrada y Grimaldo.

Since1704, the landscape in the area identify the location of Torre-Pacheco tranks to a tower, raised next to the Our Lady Of The Rosary church, and funded by Luis Pacheco. This dean of the cathedral of Murcia and Felipe III's chaplain, surely with no expectation, was stablishing that way the actual settlement of the town.
A BIT OF HISTORY
In 1971, Torre-Pacheco town didn't get General Management of Academy of Fine Arts declarated the church as a historic monument, even though it was 3 centuries old, so they had to attend and watch how it was demolished, by order of the Bishop, who claimed pastoral reasons. Afterwards, they built the actual church, but there wasn't a new tower constructions included in the proyect.
In 2002, the Cartagena Diocese, via Our Lady Of The Rosary parish of Torre-Pacheco, decided to put the building of the new tower out to tender, so a jury could select the best project, next to the site of the actual church. This was taking advantage of the IV Centenary of the parish. The main aim of the contest was to give the town the tower which, historically, had been identifying this municipality and, with the passage of time, had disappeared unjustifiably from the urban landscape.
TORRE NUEVA
The fundation stone was laid on 7th October of 2005, day of the Patron Saint of Torre-Pacheco, Our Lady Of The Rosary, after a mass in her honour.
That way, the people of Torre-Pacheco can enjoy, from some years ago, one of the greater distinguishing mark, the tower of the church; that which, according to elder people, was as a lighthouse which rises erect in the middle of the fields of Cartagena..

INNOVATIVE DESIGN
The new tower counts with a moder design. During the day, the result is a simple but decisive geometry, a prismatic volumen, continuous in height, well distinguished from the church, with sheer shape, with the goal of both bodies can be emphasised. The material used is great size blocks of stones from the Cabezo Gordo mountain, alabaster (the Virgin of El Pasico is made of this material) in the middle part, and transparent glass in the higher part, where one can see the old machine of a clock.
At night, the tower is seen as a a interior bright halo shining above, starting with the first pieces of alabaster; and, going up and losing its thickness, the luminosity will increase and it reaches the total transparency of the glass, go on the vertical until it's blurred in the sky.
On 7th October 2010, after thirty-eight years of silence, the bells could be listened again. It was opened on 6th January 2011. This was the first ceremony in the commemoration of the 175th anniversary of the constitution of the Torre Pacheco council (dated in 1836).

Dean Pacheco's heraldic shield, placed in the front of the building of Our Lady Of The Rosary church. Sculpted in oval shape, according to the eclesiastical dignity, with no helment or crown; it has four contiene cuatro quarters belonging to the Pacheco, Arróniz, Pérez de Barrada and Grimaldo.
