Geocache Description:

A micro on the road between the former Chequers Inn and Square Corner.

Chequers Farm was once 'Chequers Inn'. Whilst the drovers enjoyed the hospitality inside, their cattle took advantage of the excellent grazing facilities outside and around the inn. The Grade II listed building dates from the mid 18th century. Legend has it that a peat fire burned continuously in the old inn until the 1960s. The last pint of beer was pulled in 1945.

Square Corner is a popular parking place for those wanting to climb Black Hambleton - the 6888th highest peak in the British Isles and the 837th tallest in England - or walk part of the Cleveland Way.
