Geocache Description:

As a thank you to all geocachers who have hidden caches for us to find, we have hidden this cache to commemorate our personal milestone of finding 5,000 GC caches. It is now onwards and upwards to the next milestone. Our 5,000th cache find will be reached on 1 July 2017 when we attend GC75W5T Canada Day Brekkie hosted by gooseandegg.

This cache has been placed in Cape Deslacs Nature Reserve at Clifton Beach. It is a very popular place to visit. The carpark is in an isolated area so please lock away all valuables. When we first visited the area many years ago you could actually park very close to GZ. To get to GZ it is approximately 800 m from the carpark on a gravel formed road. While at GZ take in the amazing views, Pipe Clay Lagoon on one side and Frederick Henry Bay on the other (see photo). If you wish to walk out to the nearby viewing platform, please stay on the formed track so as not to damage the muttonbird rookeries. The view from the platform is spectacular. This area is a breeding colony for one of the most amazing migratory birds in the world, the short-tailed shearwater (the Tasmanian Mutton Bird). If you wish to see the muttonbirds, they can be viewed at dusk between December and March. Dogs are not allowed.
