Geocache Description:


The coordinates for this geocache will take you to a sign which is part of the historical walking tour in Shaunavon. At this locale, there will be a description for the Empress Hotel, the name of the now Shaunavon Hotel. Using the wording on that sign, you will be able to figure out the exact location of the geocache. Thie hint is as follows:

1st space: In this space is a number. To find this number, take the last digit of additional rooms added to the hotel and subtract the last digit of the  year the Empress hotel was first built from it.

2nd Space: In this space is a letter. This letter is the most common consonant in the year that the hotel was granted Municipal Heritage Designation.

3rd Space: In this space is a letter. This letter can be found as the 3rd letter in the 5th word on the 6th line of Empress' description.

4th Space: In this space is a letter. This letter can be found as the the 3rd letter of the first word written on the hotel's picture.

5th Space: In this space is a letter. To figure out this letter you must:

1. Find the first word of the original names of both buildings described on the sign

2. Find the number of letters that separate the first letters from both buildings. Example: CO-OP and Rexall

3. Write down the letter represented by by that number in the alphabet. Example: 14 = 14th letter = N

6th Space: In this space is a letter. This letter appears as the 3rd and 6th letters in this towns name.

1. Find the battalion number of the battalion that stayed at the hotel during the first world war.

2. Write down the first letter of what the written version of the third number would be.

Example: battalion number = 593; 3 = Three = T

8th Space: In this space is a letter. This letter appears as the first letter of the 13th word in the 5th line of Empress' description

9th Space: In this space is a letter. This letter appears as the 1st letter of the first word of the original name of the hotel.

10th Space: In this space is a letter. This letter appears as the 1st letter of the 1st word of the original restaurant's name across the street to the hotel.
