AND COFFEE BREAK
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2017
EVENT STARTS: 9:00AM
EVENT ENDS: 11:00AM
ASSIGNMENT: Receive briefing on Covert Action Training (C.A.T.) Challenge
LOCATION: Geocaching Protective Service (G.P.S.) Training Facility
GCC Task Force Training Instructor: What's good to the last drop?
Agent: A skinny decaf latte.
BACKGROUND: First things first: Coffee Break! After you are all awake and have socialized for a bit, the GCC Task Force Training Instructor will go over the requirements for the C.A.T. Challenge and hand out the geocache and activity coordinates along with corresponding point values. One C.A.T. Challenge Dossier is included in each paid Registration Package. Dossiers can also be obtained in the Going Caching 2017 online store and are limited to one per person. This year, you choose which geocaches and activities you wish to complete. Each will have a point value associated with its difficulty. Stamp your dossier at a few difficult caches and activities or a whole lot of easier ones to accumulate enough points to earn a C.A.T. Challenge collectable tag. Continue on your training, earn more points and qualify for a trackable C.A.T. Challenge geocoin. You have until Saturday, October 7th 2:30pm to complete your training, present your dossier and receive your geocoin and/or tag. All G.P.S. agents are welcome to find and log the geocaches, but you will need a C.A.T. Challenge dossier to qualify for the collectable tag and trackable geocoin.
Attention agents who plan to participate in the C.A.T. Challenge! You will need access to the following spy tools of the trade:
2) Mirror (preferably on a stick although not required)
3) 6-foot pole (a ladder would completely blow your cover. A convenient stick/limb might work)
4) Ultra-violet light
5) Magnifying glass (zooming with your phone camera could possibly work)
6) Strong magnet on a string
7) Jumper cables and 12 volt power source (resourceful agents might use speaker wire and their car battery)
8) Water (if you get thirsty bring extra)
9) FM radio (automobile works fine)
10) Special Item: Free Google Translate app will come in mighty handy
If you are unable to requisition these items, the GCC Task Force recommends you form alliances with other agents who are in possession of these tools of the trade. Cooperation is highly encouraged. Directors and Co-Directors have already requisitioned these items in their field packages (no FM radio).

Get your hands on this year's pre-event t-shirt then get your brains in high gear to solve a puzzle which leads to a loggable geocache hidden somewhere in Rome, Georgia. Only puzzlers who solve the shirt will know what to do and where to look for the final clue during Going Caching 2017. The final clue, the geocache and the $100 FTF prize can be found beginning Saturday, October 7th. Sorry ... early arriving spies have no advantage on this one. NOTE: Pre-Event t-shirts are still available in our online store but they are going fast. No 2XL shirts left.
Mystery Match Button Contest (Friday evening through Saturday)
A Mystery Match Button is included in every paid registration package. Wear your button while keeping an eye out for another one just like it. After meeting up with your match, both of you come to the Going Caching Store Tent to spin the prize wheel and see what you each win!
Where in the World is Doctor Muggle? Trading Card Adventure (Friday through Saturday)
Assemble puzzle pieces in your trading card packs to obtain the clues you need to track Dr. Muggle back to his secret lair and foil his dastardly plot to destroy geocaching as we know it. You'll need your Going Caching 2017 secret decoder geocoin and a set of collectable tags, a Spy Games Code Book (program) and a full set of trading card puzzle pieces in order to save the geocaching world. Complete your mission by breaking into Dr. Muggle's office and stopping his diabolical device before it is too late.
Covert Action Training (C.A.T.) Challenge (Friday through Saturday)
Obtain your confidential dossier and intel package and embark on the C.A.T. Challenge where you visit brand new geocaches and other secret locations. You choose which geocaches and adventures to find. A secret agent geocacher's Tools of the Trade Bag will come in handy. Stamp your dossier at a few difficult caches or a whole lot of easier ones to accumulate enough points to earn a collectable C.A.T. Challenge tag. Continue on your adventure and qualify for a very special trackable geocoin. Dossiers are included in each paid registration package and are available separately in our Going Caching Store. One dossier per individual.
Lab Caches (Thursday through Sunday)
