Tosu Station (Tokusuki) is a station of the Kyushu Railway (JR Kyushu) located in Kyo-cho, Tosu City, Saga Prefecture. Kyushu Railway (the first generation) It is also one of the oldest stations in Kyushu that exist since the opening of business.

It was one of the first stations in Kyushu, opened in conjunction with the opening of the Kyushu Railway between Hakata Station and the Chitose River provisional stop in December 11, 1889 (Meiji 22) [1] . On August 20, 1891 (Meiji 24), the current route to Nagasaki main line was opened to Saga station. In 1903 (Meiji 36) July, the Tosu station building was relocated by construction by the intergroup, continued to be used until the beginning of the 21st century after the expansion and renovation in 1911 (Meiji 44).
In 1925 (Taisho 14th year), the Tosu switchway was opened, in the Showa 30 's, about 700 staff members worked on a site area of 420,000 square meters, there are about 50 locomotive cars in the Tosu agency district, It became a major base for cargo transport in Kyushu. Since 1990 (Heisei 2) the container home of the Japanese freight railway (JR cargo) had been opened. On the east side of Tashiro station next door there was one line, about 150 meters home, but in 2006 (Heisei era 2006) the function of Kurume Station was integrated and renamed Tosu cargo terminal station. In September 1996, when the Tosu Stadium was established adjacent to the east side of the station, a free passage "Rainbow Bridge" crossing the east and west of the station was also opened. The station building is only in the west side of the station. It is the second generation completed in July 1903 (Meiji 36) [4] [5], which is a large station building built in the Kyushu Railway era [1]. The steel columns that support the roof of the home are built using the rails manufactured in the Meiji era. An elevator which raises and lowers the home and the underground passage is installed.
It is a direct-operated station of JR Kyushu, a green window and an automatic ticket gate are installed. Station automatic broadcasting has been introduced.
In the station building the Udon corner of the central hotel (to be described later) and the Toledor Tosu Station store (with Sagan Tosu official shop) are set up.
鳥栖駅（とすえき）は、佐賀県鳥栖市京町にある、九州旅客鉄道（JR九州）の駅である。九州鉄道（初代）開業時より現存する九州最古の駅の一つでもある。
九州の交通の結節点的役割を果たしている鳥栖市の、鉄道における中心駅であり全列車が停車する。当駅の所属線である鹿児島本線と、当駅を起点とする長崎本線の2路線が乗り入れている。このほかに長崎本線肥前山口駅から分岐する佐世保線、鹿児島本線久留米駅から分岐する久大本線に直通する特急・普通列車も利用可能である。鹿児島本線の普通列車の運行上の拠点駅の1つでもあり、熊本方面から銀水駅以北へ乗り入れる普通列車の大半が当駅で折り返す。
なお、優等列車を介しての熊本方面と長崎方面からの接続駅としての機能は、九州新幹線鹿児島ルートの開業により、鹿児島ルートと長崎本線が接続する新鳥栖駅に移行した。
鹿児島本線の起点である門司港駅から続いてきた福岡近郊区間は当駅まで。また、当駅以南の鹿児島本線は全区間最高速度が100km/hとなる。
1889年（明治22年）12月11日に、九州鉄道が博多駅と千歳川仮停車場の間を開通させた際に合わせて開設された、九州で最初の駅の一つである[1]。1891年（明治24年）8月20日には、現在の長崎本線となる路線が佐賀駅まで開通した。1903年（明治36年）7月に、間組による工事によって鳥栖駅舎が移転新築され、1911年（明治44年）の増改築を経て、21世紀初頭まで使用され続けている。
1925年（大正14年）に鳥栖操車場が開設され、昭和30年代には42万平方メートルの敷地面積に約700人の職員が働き、鳥栖機関区には約50両の配置機関車がある、九州の貨物輸送の一大拠点となった。この間、1945年（昭和20年）8月11日には構内に空襲を受けたが、駅舎は残った。1961年（昭和36年）には鹿児島本線が電化され、さらに発展することになった。しかし、昭和40年代に入ると鉄道貨物は退潮となり、1984年（昭和59年）に鳥栖操車場は廃止となった。
1990年（平成2年）以降は日本貨物鉄道（JR貨物）のコンテナホームが開設されていた。隣の田代駅東側に1面1線、150メートルほどのホームがあったが、2006年（平成18年）に久留米駅の機能を統合し鳥栖貨物ターミナル駅に改称した。1996年（平成8年）9月に、駅東側に隣接して鳥栖スタジアムが開設された際に、駅の東西を横断する自由通路「虹の橋」も開通した。2010年（平成22年）には、それまで自動車と歩行者とが入り乱れていた駅前周辺の再整備が進み、歩道が整備されたり信号が設置されたりするなど自動車・歩行者双方の安全性が向上した。
島式ホーム3面6線を持つ地上駅。ホームに接する本線のほかに通過線もある。駅舎とホーム間はホーム両端に設けられた2本の地下通路でつながっている。
駅舎は駅西側にのみある。1903年（明治36年）7月に完成した2代目のもので、九州鉄道時代に建築された大規模駅舎である。ホームの屋根を支える鉄柱は明治時代に製造されたレールを利用し建築されている。ホームと地下通路を昇降するエレベーターが設置されている。
JR九州の直営駅であり、みどりの窓口・自動改札機が設置されている。駅自動放送が導入されている。
駅舎内に中央軒のうどんコーナー（後述）とトランドール鳥栖駅店（サガン鳥栖オフィシャルショップ併設）が設けられている。
