Con il termine Great Complotto si definisce il movimento artistico, espresso per lo più in campo musicale, che vide la luce alla fine del 1976 a Pordenone sotto la spinta del punk inglese ed americano. È noto per la sua assoluta indipendenza dalle altre scene punk e new wave esistenti in Italia nello stesso periodo.
Sin dagli anni sessanta la musica anglosassone si era diffusa tra i giovani pordenonesi, favorita dalla presenza dei soldati americani di stanza ad Aviano, nelle cui radio venivano trasmesse le ultime tendenze musicali prima di arrivare in altre zone d'Italia. Tanto importante divenne questo fenomeno che Pordenone fu definita dalla rivista alternativa Re Nudo come "l'avamposto della controcultura freak nel nord-est d'Italia". |
The term Great Complotto defines the artistic movement, mostly expressed in the musical field, which saw the light at the end of 1976 in Pordenone under the influence of the British and American punk. It is known for its absolute independence from the other punk and new wave scenes existing in Italy during the same period.
Since the sixties, english music had spread among the young people in Pordenone, favored by the presence of American soldiers in Aviano, in whose radio the latest musical trends were broadcasted before arriving to other parts of Italy. This phenomenon gained such importance that Pordenone was defined by the alternative magazine Re Nudo as "the outpost of the freak counterculture in the northeast of Italy".

The "Pordenone scene" assumed completely original features when in the late seventies some local musicians decided to follow the punk wave that was propagating in Great Britain, going to London (it remains well-known an authorized gig performed by Hitler SS and Tampax under Aklam's bridge at Portobello Road in 1979, which passed on to the story as "Cartoon Concert") and importing the most extreme punk style practices.

Nel 1980 venne pubblicata la compilation The Great Complotto, che comprendeva brani dei Mess, Sexy Angels, Fhedolts, Andy Warhol Banana Technicolor, Mind Invaders, Cancer, Musique Mecanique, Tampax, Hitler SS, W.K.W., Little Chemists e Waalt Diisneey Production.
Il movimento vide la sua fine - mai ufficializzata - alla fine degli anni ottanta, anche se alcuni artisti della vecchia scena continuano a calcare i palcoscenici. |
