A new spot has opened up along the Gizmo Trail so we have taken the opportunity to add another cache to this series! Since we don't have any more animals to dedicate this cache to we have decided to make this cache about all the birdies that call our backyard home!
It all started with a few bird feeders that I hung in our Mt Ash a few years back. Shortly after that sparrows built a nest in the birdhouse I put up on the garage and then, later, a Wren moved in. I can remember sitting in the back listening and watching the wren build his nest and sing for a mate...such a nice song...except when he starts at 4am!!!
Next came feeding the Blue Jays. My wife bought me a peanut donut for the Jays and they were soon coming four at a time, letting us know whenever they were here with loud calls and screeches. Now if the peanut donut is empty the Jays will let me know...I've been well trained.
In the early spring we are treated to a few Chickadees hanging around and calling out to one another around the neighborhood. I love their song!
We also have a downy woodpecker visit the backyard once in awhile. He's not a very frequent visitor in the summer but we see him a little more often in the winter when I put out the suet.
I never get tired of seeing the beauty and color of the many birds that visit my home. Whenever we hear a new song we rush to the back window to see if we have attracted a new friend!
