Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Piscasaw Creek

The Piscasaw River runs through this quiet and peaceful site, making it a perfect location for fishing.

About the Site

This site is part of a bigger complex called Beck’s Woods.  The Piscasaw North portion features a 0.5-mile trail along the creek used primarily by fishermen.  At the end of March, the creek is stocked with trout making this a popular trout fishing stream.

Across Route 173 along Beck’s Road you can find a shelter available for rent, as well as a small group camping area (reservations required).  A short trail will also lead you back to the creek for additional fishing opportunities.

Owl’s Vision

Most owls are nocturnal as their prey mostly comes out at night.  As a result, they have poor color vision but are very sensitive to light and movement.  In order to accommodate their need to see at night, their eyes are very large for their body size and their pupils can expand greatly at night.  As a result, owls can see 35-100 times better then humans in dim light.
