Geocache Description:

Beautiful Beals Island in the Great Wass Island Preserve. Beautiful stone, man-made but also very rooty trails.

We started at the entrance of the preserve at N44 28.861, W067 35.671. We do not think there is another entrance unless you like to climb through the underbrush. Anyway, the trails are twining over flat rocky and rooty areas. Wear good shoes and do not let your kids talk you into walking there in flip-flops (like my 9-year-old did).

Island preserve is very beautiful and quiet. Lots of birds and you may see some seals as well depending on the tide. My kids had fun climbing around on the flat rocks on the beach. Lots of crabs and other fish in the tidepools. Had a blast there!

Cash is a clear 1-gallon plastic container with many little surprises in them but cannot remember all of them ...but among them was: a magic ring, stamp, hacky-sack ball, little rubber animals, some very sour candy (war heads, I believe) and a few more things.

Have fun!
