In June of 1911 it was decided to open the Farmer's Coop Creamery which served this community for 65 years, until 1977. The building was built for $1500 on a $100 parcel of land. . The creamery bought whole milk, processed butter, and sold the butter milk and skim milk to a larger distributor. The biggest hit to the creamery came when many dairy operations were bought up by Camp Ripley, drastically cutting the supply of milk. Through the years, milk was brought in from Pillager, Motley, Staples, Leader, Pequot Lakes and Brainerd. .
