Let us gather to say goodbye to summer and hello to the fall at the NInth Annual Picnic in the Pines Event, Sunday, September 10, 2017 Noon to 3pm. We have a nice, private, secluded picnic area reserved in the Yucca Group Area at the Oak Flat Picnic Ground. There are 8 shaded tables , 2-4 serving tables, 2 unshaded grills, and a bathroom available nearby. Grills will be up and ready by noon and volunteers are needed to do the grilling.
Directions from Albuquerque: Drive east on I-40 to the Tijeras exit. Drive south on 337 to Oak Flat Road (about 8.4 miles). Turn left (or east) and proceed about 1 mile to the Oak Flat Picnic area on the left. Follow the signs to the Yucca Group Area. It is OK to use your GPS to navigate to the posted coordinates.
Yucca area has a slightly smaller parking area than Locust (used for the 2015 picnic). If Yucca parking is full when you arrive, unload your goodies and park 300 ft north of Yucca along the road used to reach Yucca.
We plan to close the gate to parking at 3:30 PM. If you think that you will be geocaching in the area past 3:30 PM please move your car to a parking space outside the gate.
When logging "will attend," please indicate the number of people in your party and which dish you will be bringing.
