Geocache Description:

Isleworth House, here on the Richmond Road, Isleworth was built for George lll’s physician. It is an imposing stuccoed building known locally as the White House, with a stable block and lawns sweeping down to a branch of the Thames, opposite the island known as Isleworth Ait.

In 1892 the Poor Sisters of Nazareth established a convent at Isleworth House, and they renamed it  Nazareth House. They conducted a girls' orphanage and a home for the aged, for which a number of new buildings were erected in the grounds. The red brick chapel that can be seen from GZ was built in 1902

The Sisters withdrew from the site in 2002, intending to sell it then, but later considered development options and secured planning permission in 2008 for the construction of a retirement village, including a new nursing home.  However, the ensuing market and financial uncertainties caused the Sisters to put their plans on hold.  After carrying out preliminary site works to crystallise the existing planning permission and reviewing development options, they decided to revert to the original plans to sell the site.

The site is now in the final redevelopment stage for luxury housing.
