The park is situated in Laugardalur -"pool or hot spring valley"- the main recreation and sports area of Reykjavík. Many believe that the name Reykjavík -"smokey bay"- comes from steam that arose here in the settlement period.
Here you can find the largest outdoor thermal swimming pool, National football stadium, ice skating rink, tennis court,indoor athletics track, camping, youth hostel, amusement park, botanical garden and zoo. Some of these facilities are used for international concerts and meetings too.
The cache is in the botanical garden ( free admission), please respect the plants, the cache is hidden at ground level so there is no need to search among the plants.Due to the irresponsible behaviour of some players, cache has been relocated. But don´t miss the botanical garden! enjoy the pond with the ducks and goose and even ducklings in summer time, be pleased by the different plants, flowers and trees... This is a great spot to spend a morning or afternoon.
The cache is in the "þvottalaugar" area, where the reykjavík inhabitants went ,in the old times, to make the laundry in the naturally heated geothermal water. Bring your own pencil.
