This cache has been placed by the Officers and crew of Her Majesty's Canadian Ship (HMCS) STAR to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday with the geocaching community. HMCS STAR is the Royal Canadian Navy's oldest Naval Reserve Division, first being commissioned in 1923 as the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve(RCNVR) Hamilton Half Company and then in 1941 as HMCS STAR.
The buildings, land and waterfront in proximity to this cache have changed much over the years.
On 27 September 1997, HMCS STAR officially opened their new building just NW of where you stand. On 28 August 2003, HMCS Haida, now part of Parks Canada, arrived in Hamilton and in 2004 took position next to STAR.
Initially, this cache has been stocked with some Navy goodies. Please trade fairly.
