The village of Great Cacapon is situated near the outer edges of Morgan County is just past a beautiful overlook (you can see it from the overlook,just behind the Cacapon River)It has a population, give or take a few, of 386 people according to the last census. It was once a thriving railroad town, with a depot for the B&O mainline just down the road and one street back. Now it's a bit more quiet. The town has a post office, a general store, a Head Start building, a fire station, and even a library! (Hey...a Little Free Library is still a library, right?) There's good fishing, and access to the Cacapon River, where people like to swim, boat, and even tube downriver to the Potomac. It is located between Berkeley Springs and Paw Paw, both of which have much to offer in the way of history, and outdoor activities for the whole family.
This super-quick "micro" cache is meant to give new cachers a taste of a different kind of hide, and maybe provide a little smile to the old-hatters. This isn't your every day cache, but it's not the only one of its kind. You'll have to think just a little outside-of-the-box to find this one. Look around at your surroundings, then think to yourself, "If I were a geocache, and there weren't many places to actually hide nearby, where would I pick?" If you see a flowery 5112, you are VERY close (but no, it's not there....pay attention to the name of the cache) Read the hint, you won't be sorry.
Folks around this little village like to mosey up and down the road, so be aware of potential muggle activity. Be careful with young ones, as this one sits close to the road. Be aware that the container can be a little tricky in hot weather, and may not want to easily give up its contents. It may require a little oomph to get to that smiley! No need to enter the property nearby to collect your smiley, but you are welcome to use the parking that is available and if you feel inclined, you're welcome to pop in and say hi!(The four-legged residents can get mouthy, but don't let that stop you. The yellow one adores visitors, and the black on is literally all bark and no bite. ALWAYS A GOOD CHOICE: Never pet a pup you don't know without an owner present) Please be considerate of the nearby residents, and only search for this one during daylight hours. Leaving your own four-legged companions in your vehicle would be appreciated if the resident ones are out and about. Have fun, be stealthy, and Happy Caching!
