Cache is found on state land south of Danby, NY. It is located a short way off a spur trail of the Finger Lakes trail.
The trail passes through a nice stand of older growth hardwoods and some beautful hemlocks before topping out on a ridge with some wild blueberries in season. Don't miss out on going farther down the trail past the cache to see the view! You can take the long hike from N 42 19.034 / W 076 28.663 or the short hike from N 42 19.098 / W 076 29.717. Rating was for the short hike. Several people seem to be bushwacking from the short hike parking spot. No need. Walk along the seasonal road for 3/10 mile past the old cemetary and you'll find the trail. Haven't done the long one yet. If you do the long one this summer, watch for yellow jackets on the bridge. I got nailed on the hand. Short hike was no problem for my 4-year old son.
