Geocache Description:

A quick cache and dash in the grounds of a charming old hostelry, with plenty of parking.

I was browsing the Gloucestershire countryside, as one does, hoping to place a cache in the 'A Fine Pair' series, but luck wasn't on my side. Either the spot was taken, too close to another cache, or the pair weren't quite close enough together. In the end I thought I'd place one here anyway because it's pretty close, and would make nice stop en route to Purton and beyond. You can't quite see one half of the fine pair from GZ, but it is there, I promise! Just around the corner in fact.

The cache has been placed with permission from the landlady of the nearby inn, and it should become apparent immediately which half of the fine pair I've settled on. GZ is allegedly destined to become home to a defibrillator and a community library, but I imagine this is due to happen at 'Gloster' pace. The similarity between the words 'Gloster' and 'glacial' is no accident.

The pub itself was built in 1934. Local legend has it that you could buy iguana steaks there on a Thursday. Why iguana steaks - and why Thursday specifically - remains a mystery.

***July 6th at 0850hrs - congratulations to Razorfishy!***
