Geocache Description:

Welcome to New Concord! Easily accessible just off I-70 (Exit 169). Called Remix because there was formerly a different cache here that was archived when the owner moved away.

While this can be a park-and-grab, due to the new business directly to the northwest, there can be a LOT of traffic in the area. You may want to park in the corner of said business's lot and walk up through the grassy area and follow the path at the corner of the lot.

New Concord is a village on the eastern border of Muskingum County, Ohio. The population peaked in 2002 at 2736; latest figures (2016) put the number at 2355. New Concord is the home of Muskingum University, a Presbyterian liberal arts college.

John Glenn, the former United States Senator and the first American to orbit the Earth as well as the person who holds the record for being the oldest person to be in space (at age 77), was raised in New Concord and attended Muskingum University (then it was Muskingum College). His boyhood home is now located on Main Street as an historical site with tours and displays.

New Concord's more down-to-Earth claims to fame include the local John Glenn High School's annual canned food drive, which set national records for several years up through 2006 when the class of 2007 collected 72,230 items. All food from the annual food drive goes to the Salvation Army in Cambridge and Zanesville.

New Concord was the hometown of William Rainey Harper, founder and first president of the University of Chicago; other native sons include the exceptional blues/rock guitarist Tom Nelson and David W. Stewart, a US Senator from Iowa in the 1920’s.

The village is also home to one of the rather unusual S-bridges found along sections of the old National Road. Check out the nearby S-Bridge cache, as well as the other caches around town!
