In front of you will be a 1930s style one-room school house. Restoration began in 1998 when the District Number 8 Restoration committee began efforts to restore the one-room school house. Since that time, many students, civic groups, and families have enjoyed touring the building. In May 2015, a storm passed through Madison KS blowing over the chimney and causing significant damage to the building. The District Number 8 Restoration began the work to see if restoration was once again a viable option. Once estimates were recieved, the community of Madison quickly came together to raise the fund to repair the building.
The Number 8 School closed in 1952, unifing with Madison.
