Geocache Description:

The Haggi have been busy trying their hands with some puzzles for a change to mark the anniversary of the start of the Haggis Highway in Oct 2012, they thought it would be an idea to put a haggis on the map! With help from our friends and cousins from outwith the Highlands we have come up with this series of caches to keep you busy.

PARKING : as many of these puzzles are a walk, a few are drivebys, mostly all dog friendly, but please be sensible with dogs and livestock. There are several car parks, White Cow Woods N57 33.104 W2 4.383 Drinnie’s Wood N57 32.675 W2 2.737 and 3 in Strichen Community Park where there are also toilets (not 24/7) and a coffee shop N57 35.072 W2 5.698 The roadside ones usually have a place to pull off the road safely, though be considerate when parking at field gates and farmers tracks .

In the 5 years that the Haggi have been on the go, they have certainly got around, not just in the Highlands and Lowlands of Bonnie Scotland but over the sea to Ireland and across the borders into England and Wales, attending many gatherings ( or otherwise known as events) where they have met up with some of their foreign cousins. At Mega Wales last year, the Highland Haggi met Hwyel a proud speaker of the native Celtic nations languages. Hwyel could trace his linage all the way back to a C10th King of Wales after whom he was named and he took the HH on a tour of the historical places of interest including the sacred stone where the Welsh haggi Chiefs of old held their inauguration ceremony. They noticed the inscription on the stone which legend has it to have a highland connection. Only part of it had ever been deciphered though....
