Geocache Description:

A small family adventure in the mini-woods adjacent to the guided busway. Recommended for families as well as adults on their own. Fairly challenging to access and retrieve. Please replace carefully!

This one is accessible from the guided busway between the Longstanton park and ride, and the Oakington stop. This part of the busway is close to where Reynold's Drove crosses it. You can also access this part of the busway from Longstanton or Rampton.

This should be very easy to find, but should be challenging to access and retrieve. Make sure you are wearing trousers for this one, otherwise your legs will get stung. Part of the challenge is to find a good route to GZ. If you take the route I took, the nettles won't be very high at all. You will still need trousers though to prevent your ankles from getting stung.

Only attempt to access this one from the busway. If you attempt to access it via the field, not only are you trampling on crops (private property), but you'll also be the wrong side of a ditch. Also be prepared to be ducking under and stepping over branches to get to GZ.

This last part of getting the cache involves a very minor tree climb (the cache is placed about 3 metres high, but you should only have to climb about 1.5m). This cache is terrain 3.5 for a reason. Personally, I'm 5ft 5 (18 years old), so if you're taller you should easily be able to reach the cache from the specific foothold. I can reach this one with some lee-way, so even if you're smaller than that (it should still be doable at 5ft probably, but anything lower I wouldn't really recommend though might still be possible) you should still be able to reach it, as well as replace it at the correct height.

While I recommend this as a family cache and recommended for kids to come along too, it might not be recommended for them to actually be climbing the tree (especially if they're smaller than 5ft). Though if they're older, tall enough and have climbed trees before; they should enjoy the climb. If you do let your kid climb the tree, it is recommended that they are closely supervised (common sense really). Please use your judgement as to whether the tree looks safe enough, though you don't have to go that far up at all (foothold about 1.5m high, there's a 2nd foothold below as well).

I recommend signing the log and looking at swaps on the ground (preferably away from the nettles) as opposed to up the tree. Please do your best to avoid dropping the cache contents into the nettles, that wouldn't be fun to retrieve. Since the log book was bent to fit in the cache, as soon as you open the lid, the log book will spring back up so be careful.

This cache is regular size (just over a litre in volume), and contains toys that I still have from when I was younger (that would otherwise go to a charity shop). Your kids should enjoy them. Ideally please "trade even or up" so other kids can have something too. There should be space for travel bugs / geocoins too. However, the cache is quite full as is, so it might be a challenge to get everything back in.

Due to the location, GZ may be hard to pinpoint. On the other hand, the cache should be very easy to spot if you simply look up, hence why this is difficulty 1. Please be careful with the cache once you're up there. This includes carefully unhooking the cache, as opposed to simply grabbing it.

Please also make sure to replace at the correct height / branch found, in the manner exactly as found (unless there is a problem). If there was a problem with how the last cacher left it, or it's fallen on the floor, or it's hiding place has snapped, please replace in a sensible location and report this to me.

This will require climbing back up a 2nd time to replace, and it will be very slightly harder to replace than to retrieve it.

I selected the bike attribute as you can cycle along the guided busway and then lock your bike on the fence next to the footpath crossing, in order to begin your mini-adventure. In theory dogs can come, but getting your dog to GZ may be quite a challenge.

I hope you enjoy this little adventure. If this is too easy, try this at night for an even greater challenge and atmosphere. While the container is nothing special, the journey to get to and retrieve the cache is different from many. If there any problems with the cache, feel free to log an NM or contact me. However, it may be difficult for me to maintain whilst I'm at university (however during the university holidays I can maintain easily). Preferably please report any problems at their first signs so that I can plan a trip home in advance if this proves strictly necessary.

Congrats to Fenland Lass on the FTF.
