Welcome to Sheho Saskatchewan! Over a series of caches I'll show you all about this small town, and hopefully you'll get a better understanding of what it's like here.

Your first destination is the curling rink... sort of. You see, the curling rink doesn't exist any more! The big metal structure is the skating rink. The curling rink was a white wooden building built in 1967 just next to the skating rink. If you look you can still see some of the foundation of the curling rink. It was built for Canada's 100th anniversary, and since this year is Canada's 150th anniversary it seemed approriate to put a cache here.
The curling rink had a bar and a clubhouse and was a common place to spend the winter months. In the words of a local "what else were you going to do during the winter!". Prairie winters are brutal, regularly going below -40 C.
The curling rink was torn down in 1999.
Check out the skating rink. Left of the entrance you'll see a big section of the exterior wall that is bent inward. It's been like that since at least the 1970s. Near the cache you'll be able to look inside the rink to see what it's like. Kinda spooky right?
I know that pictures of the curling rink exist, and I will post them as soon as I find them.
Many caches in the area also contain history of the region.
The history of the area is contained in three books:
- "They came from many lands; a history of Foam Lake & area." 1985
- "A century of history : Sheho, Tuffnell, Foam Lake, Leslie, West Bend, Fishing Lake Reserve" by Elaine Virgin and Gail Shurgot. 1974.
- "Sheho; Treasured Memories 1905 - 2005" from 2005.
For the cache itself, you're looking for a container smaller than a film canister that is too small for a pen or any tradables. It is outside the skating rink and you don't need to climb onto the roof to get it.
