Great American Partial Solar Eclipse Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

ZillaCloud: Well the sun has eclipsed and its time for this event to do the same. Never fear if you attended and didn't get a chance to log it you still can even though its archived.

I see there are still a few more TBs in the inventory, I don't have them so if you grabbed them remember to log the grab when you have a few minutes.

Thank you all for coming, I was very happy we had such a good turn out. Lets do this again in 7 years for the big show the Total Eclipse will be passing right over Rochester. Free show and we don't even have to go anywhere!

Geocache Description:

It's 2017 and this year we will be treated to Great American Total Solar Eclipse! For us it will be a Partial eclipse but still how often do we get to see that? Lets gather to watch the eclipse, and of course talk about Geocaching, exchange TBs, and other fun Geocaching nonsense. As you well know there are pleanty of caches in the park for fun before or after the event.

The event will run from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST feel free to come or go at any point during then. The maximum portion of the eclipse should happen around 2:30 pm EST. See this map for more details on when to view!

Partial Solar Eclipse Details
*Note times are in UTC for EST subtract 4 hours

I picked this spot because it's wide open without any trees or cover in the way. Bring your own seating if you desire. There are bathrooms and pleanty of parking all arond the general area.

Very Important! Looking at the solar eclipse with your naked eyes, even when it is partially covered by the moon, is VERY dangerous and can cause serious eye dammage. This is also true for pets, please keep them at home for this one to keep their eyes safe too.  I will have about 25 or so approved "ISO 12312-2" standard eye glasses that can be used to safely view the eclipse. If you would like more details about this check out this page here: A Solar Eclipse Can Blind You or How to View a Solar Eclipse Without Damaging Your Eyes. If you would like to bring your own viewer thats fine, but please note that regular sunglasses are NOT sufficient and refer to the links above for proper devices.

In attending the event and viewing the eclipse, please use common sense. Neither Geocaching.com, the reviewer nor I can be held acountable for any side-effects of viewing the eclipse improperly or otherwise. Not trying to scare anyone away, just want you to be aware.

See ya there!
