A beautiful spot to visit at any time of the year.
The cache is placed at Risdon Brook Park. The site has set hours of operation which vary from winter to summer. Please check the board as you enter the park for closing times. During day light savings the park is open 7.30 am - 8.00 pm and 8.30 am - 4.30 pm at other times.
This reservoir provides drinking water for Southern Tasmania. Children will need to be supervised as track may get close to water, if completing the whole circuit. Risdon Brook Dam is a 4 km circuit which is an easy walk for the whole family. Cycling is allowed. Follow the vehicle-width track all the way around the reservoir in either direction. The track is mostly flat but undulates around the eastern bay and at the approach to the northern end of the reservoir.
There are views to Mount Wellington and Mount Direction from the eastern side of the reservoir and bush views around the whole reservoir perimeter. Having done the walk to locate caches already situated here, we felt the area could do with a new cache, hence this cache.
At peak times, it may be hard to find a park in the car park! Watch out for muggles and rehide as found. Please bring your own pen.
