Geocache Description:

The Metals is a historic route that once brought granite from Dalkey Quarry to the great harbour works in Dun Laoghaire. Over 600,000 tonnes of granite was dragged by horse along a railway to make what was then one of the largest harbours in the world. The Metals is a walking path down the industrial history of this part of Dublin and takes you from the amazing views of Dalkey and Killiney Hill to the beauty of Dun Laoghaire harbour.

Across from GZ, you can see a sign a sign for Atmospheric Road. The Dalkey Atmospheric Railway was the first railway of its type in the world using differential air pressure to provide power for propulsion of a railway vehicle. It used part of the Dalkey Quarry industrial tramway that ran from Dublin to Dun Laoghaire.

Please be stealthy and try not to be seen by muggles! I'd ask you kindly not to post any spoilers!
This is a lettebox hyrid geocache and conatins a stamper (you'll need your own inkpad). Do not remove the stamp from the container as it is not a trade item. Signing the logbook is the only requirement to claim a find on this cache.

Full credit for this cache goes to Psalm325 who came up with the creative idea and with his blessing, this cache has been published to keep the memory alive. When GC5FAGF was archived, more than 50% of it's finds had given favourite points!
