Geocache Description:

The family name denotes a follower of St Columba (c.521-597), the Irish abbot who is credited with Scotland's conversion to Christianity. The MacCallums are established in Lorn,Argyllshire, by the end of the 13th century. In1414 one of them was granted lands in Craighnish and alongside Loch Avich.Was made hereditary constable of the castles at Craighnish and Lochaffy. They can still be seen in the USA at many of the Scottish Games.
