About the Site
Situated in the upper reaches of the Boone Creek watershed, the 608 acre Boone Creek Conservation Area protects the headwaters, upland recharge areas, wetlands and creek corridors of the greater 13-mile Boone Creek.
To date, several known state endangered animal species are protected from having their habitat developed at Boone Creek Conservation Area including the American Bittern, Black-Crowned Night Heron, Osprey, Forster’s Tern, Upland Sandpiper, Blanding’s Turtle, the Slippershell Mussel and the state threatened Black-billed Cuckoo.
Groups of Animals
Owls do not have many predators. In some places, eagles sometimes kill and eat owls, and smaller kinds, or species, of owls are sometimes killed and eaten by larger types of owls. Serpents that can climb trees will eat baby owls or owl eggs if they get the chance. Beyond that, however, owls do not have many natural enemies.

About the Hide
It’s an uphill walk to get there and if you choose the wrong route, it will take you much longer. At ground zero, there is a barbed wire fence nearby but you should be able to get the cache without leaving the trail or getting too close to it.

- Please do not move or vandalize the container.
- Once you find it, log your name in the book, take a trinket and leave one of your own behind for the next person.
- Replace the cache in the same spot that you found it, and make sure it is completely covered.
- Please do not remove the informational card from the containers, this is an essential game piece for cachers completing the GeoSeries.
- The real treasure is finding the container and sharing your thoughts with everyone who finds it.
