The Yate dam was completed in 1959 and is responsible for the creation of the artificial Lake Yate. On the seaward side of the dam is an essentially orphaned river bed. But, wow, is it ever scenic! We learned that there are several swimming holes in the old river bed, filled by the rain fall that occurs on the land next to the river and downstream from the dam. The swimming holes are also full of fish though they have, thus far eluded capture by me. But you can hundreds of them. You can read about the dam and its history on its wikipedia page. Le barrage de Yate a été achevé en 1959 et est responsable de la création du Lake Yate artificiel. Sur le côté de la mer du barrage se trouve un lit de la rivière essentiellement orphelin. Mais, wow, est-ce jamais scénique! Nous avons appris qu'il y a plusieurs trous de baignade dans l'ancien lit de la rivière, remplis par la chute de pluie qui se produit sur le terrain à côté de la rivière et en aval du barrage. Les trous de natation sont également pleins de poisson, bien qu'ils aient échappé à cette capture. Mais vous pouvez en faire des centaines.
