1st Priorslee and St Georges Scout Group started in 1979 with 2 Scout leaders, 10 Scouts and 20 Cub Scouts.
Meetings were originally held at St. Peter’s Church, Snedshill. Later, the Scouts and Cubs moved to Holy Trinity Church Hall, Oakengates and Beavers moved to Priorslee Community Centre.
The Group set up a fund raising committee to begin to raise money to build their own headquarters. Land was given by Telford Development Corporation and after many years of fundraising we applied for and received two lottery grants and the new building was opened in 2002. We have a large sports hall, committee room, kitchen, and storage facilities upstairs. As well as being used by the local community, the group is now over 100 strong plus leaders.
During the summer term of 2017, all 36 Scouts undertook the Geocaching Badge. This involved them understanding how GPS works, coordinate systems, problems with GPS as well as finding as many caches as we could. We also had to hide a cache, and this is it!
