The Poyll Dooey Nature Trails are designed to put wildlife first, however, human facilities include a small car park, picnic sites and designated pathways.
Until the late 80’s it was the town tip, then in early 1988 plans were drawn up to landscape the site. Work commenced that summer with levelling and the removal of some of the more objectionable items of rubbish. Work continued over the next 10 years with the planting of trees, shrubs and herbaceous perennials. The landscaping was continually tweaked in order to provide the area as you now see it, with the aim of increasing bio-diversity throughout the site.
More information can be found here.
The cache is in a natural part of the area.
