This park is one of the many locations on the North Shore of Boston where pickleball enthusiasts gather to play one of the fastest growing sports in America. Pickleball is a racket sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It is played on a court the size of a badminton court, using a tennis-like net and court surface, solid paddles about the size of a racketball racket, and a perforated plastic ball. The game was invented in the summer of 1965 on Bainbridge Island, Washington. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. On many summer mornings, you will find dozens of people playing pickleball on the nearby courts.
