This cache is located in Spearfish Canyon along US-14 Scenic. It's located off Iron Creek Road. In the 1970's we were able to drive this road to Iron Creek Lake,near Spearfish. With some hard rains/floods in the 1970's, the road was starting to wash away. Eventually, the road was closed. The road is now blocked with huge boulder rocks.
We had so much fun riding on this road to Iron Creek Lake. It was faster coming from Rim Rock Lodge in Spearfish Canyon which we owned for part of the 1970's. The 70s's decade was a great time for movies, music and good old fashion fun. My siblings and I would go hopping on the rocks in Spearfish Creek. We would build dams that would be torn down. We hiked all over the area that we lived in during the summer. At night we played "Moonlight Starbright." We made friends with kids who were strangers to us staying at Rim Rock Lodge. I would say growing up here was the best way to spend our summers. There was always rooms to be cleaned but we got paid and then back to our adventures. We had a large bell that mom would ring when it was time to come home. I hid this cache down the road to remember the good times we had and the tough hikes we took. We all had our share of poison ivy which grows a lot in this area. The best part of the '70s was the music! Have fun finding the cache!
