Middle-to-Locust FTF Night Trail #21 Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

CrimeFighter89: I stopped out to check on this one and was unable to locate the final container. Found the familiar final beacon but no ammo can around.

This was a grueling night trail to place, and I knew that especially in summer months this would be no fun, but it was the only spot I was able to scout along Middle-to-Locust for a night cache, so I went with it.

Thanks to all those who provided a fun, unique log and/or dropped a favorite point. Hope it brought some memorable adventures.

Geocache Description:

This is a NIGHT CACHE located just off the FTF Power Trail. If you aren't familiar with night caches, beginning at waypoint #1, you follow reflective trail markers utilizing a flashlight until you reach the final container. This is also my 50th hidden cache!

INSTRUCTIONS:

Start at WP #1 (white marker). Head into the woods and continue along the trail following the ORANGE markers. When you reach TWO orange markers side-by-side, veer to the left and continue following orange markers. Eventually, you will reach two WHITE markers side-by-side. The cache is located within 20' of these markers. You should stay in the woods and off private property. Also, stay to the LEFT of the barbed wire fence.

I recommend taking a buddy with while doing this cache for several reasons:

1) four eyes are better than two (at least, I think that's why everyone in high school called me Four Eyes)

2) in case of emergency, someone can either call for help or save themselves

3) if your flashlight battery dies, someone else can lead the way, or you can rock-paper-scissors them for theirs

4) if you encounter a wild animal, you might be able to out run your buddy (choose a slow buddy)

5) and most importantly - because you'll have twice as much fun doing this with a buddy!

Middle Road, turning into Locust Street spans 20 miles, beginning in northeast Bettendorf and ending in western Davenport. It is a thoroughfare for traffic in Scott County.

This is a FTF Power Trail, beginning at the start of Middle Road. A "Power Trail" is a series of at least 50 geocaches within close proximity. A "FTF Power Trail" means that if you are the "first to find" (i.e. the 'FTF') of a cache in this series, PLEASE 'pay it forward' by placing the next cache along this trail, and do so within two weeks of getting the FTF. Keep in mind that some areas will be higher muggle traffic than others, so you may have to be creative in your hides, or may have to dive slightly off course to put out a hide.

*** Please park legally and safely when hunting for this FTF Power Trail cache!

Congrats to this cacher on the FTF NIGHT Trail FTF! midwesthunter midwesthunter
