Aylesbeare Common is one of the few remaining lowland heathlands in the UK and is managed by the RSPB as a nature reserve. The RSPB has kindly consented to the placement of this geocache.
The Reserve is open at all times and admission is free. On the reserve:
- Dogs on leads are allowed.
- Please take care not to start fires.
- Ticks are common on heathland and you should check your clothing and skin after your visit as ticks can cause Lyme disease.
- Please do not wander off the trails (all the caches are close by) as this may disturb the wildlife. Also adders may be encountered mainly during the summer months.
- Cattle and ponies graze freely on the Common. They are usually friendly but please give them space especially if you have a dog.
