From the time I started Kindergarten until my brother started driving when I was in 9th grade, I rode Bus #4 to Rains ISD. This series was placed at certain stops and/or roads where our bus traveled. My brothers and I were the first ones on the bus and the last ones off everyday. My cousins lived across the pasture from us, and they got on right after we did. Lots of memories were made on this bus route, some good and some not so good. When I was in 1st grade, I remember crying and complaining about riding the bus. It was cold in the mornings and hot in the afternoons. Guess I was just singing the Rural Bus Times Blues!! My mom worked in Terrell, and my dad worked in Dallas, so they could never transport me to school. Luckily, my bus driver was a mom also, and she kind of took care of us. If I went to sleep in the mornings, she would wake me up before we pulled in the school.
Stop #11 This wasn't actually a stop, but this is where we turned to go back to the highway to head to school. On this road going back to the highway is a creek. It used to be a wooden bridge. If we had gotten any rain, it would be flowing. I always wanted to get down in that creek and play. Matter of fact, the day I hid this cache, there was a huge water turtle sunning on a log out in the middle of the creek. Doesn't look like near as much fun when you are "old".
