2017-ben, a Saul fia Oscar-díja után újra egy magyar film sikeréért lehetett szurkolni az egyik legrangosabb filmes díjátadón. Deák Kristóf rövidfilmje, a Mindenki (Sing) a legjobb élőszereplős rövidfilmes kategóriában számított a favoritnak és nyerte is el a díjat, evvel megszületett a kategória első magyar győzelme.
A film Budapesten, egy meg nem nevezett kerületben játszódik a rendszerváltás környékén, azonban a film alapos megfigyelése során sikerült beazonosítani egy központi jelenet (a két főszereplő kislány barátsága elmélyül egy kellemetlen titok kiderülése során) helyszínét a Brassó Utcai Általános Iskola melletti utcasarkon. One year after Son of Saul captivated audiences and came away with the prize for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards, Hungary could root for another local production's chances at the Oscar ceremony. Director Krisfóf Deák's Sing (Mindenki) was the favorite to win the award for Best Live Action Short Film, and by capturing the prize, became the first Hungarian recipient in this category.
The film plays out in an undisclosed neighborhood of Budapest some years after the 1989 events, but after careful examination, I could pinpoint the street corner used as the backdrop for one of the pivotal moments of the movie - when one of the two young actresses tells her friend about a secret that elicited her change in behavior.
