Geocache Description:

The Lake Florida Hills area that lies before you is a part of the Alexandria Glacial Moraine Complex laid down by the Wadena Lobe of the last glacier, 30,000 years ago.  At that time, the massive amount of ice, thousands of feet in thickness and loaded with unnumbered tons of rock material, ceased its forward movement and melted. What remained after the ice melted in this area was an accumulation of boulders, stones, gravel, and other debris formerly contained in the ice sheet. Some were formed into Kames, or glacial hills such as you see around you. Also, blocks of ice, buried in the debris, melted to form many of the hundreds of small lakes, dotting the countryside. Straight in front of you is Lake Florida which is one of these ice block lakes.  Depressions left behind by the melting glacier also formed Kettles or potholes which are visible here too.
