Geocache Description:

The Road to Kyalite Geotrail
End of the Trail
This cache site was the former cache :-
Gone fishing - GC3Q9G5 - now archived
The cache site is not a bad spot to have a break and wet a line.
A short stroll and you can also wet your whistle
Travel 37 km south of Balranald and you will find Kyalite on the junction of the Wakool and Edward Rivers.
The closest town on the Murray River to Kyalite is Tooleybuc, located between Robinvale and Swan Hill.
Originally known as Wakool Crossing, the district name was changed to Kyalite in the mid 1920s.
The meaning of Kyalite has been lost, but it is believed to have been the name given to the Edward River by local Aboriginals.
The railway reached Kyalite in 1928, when it became a station on the railway line from Kerang, Victoria, across the Murray River to Stony Crossing, New South Wales. The line was not a success and trains ceased running north of the Murray in 1943
To the recreational camper and fisherman Kyalite is known for its extensive State Forests and endless river systems and of course fishing
The centre attraction has always been the local pub and for many years has been an important watering hole for visiting fishermen who camp on the banks of the Wakool or Edward Rivers.
