Many a time my family packed up the Station Wagon and headed South on #1 on our way to Miami.
Time passed and the new interstates were built. I95 diverted from Route 1 and then I85 came along and followed Route 1 from Petersburg to North Carolina. In 1969 a new interchange came with the new highway and this road was cut off from Route 1. What was once a well used road became a forgotten stub.
I was out exploring the roads near my family's farm and found this road. It ALMOST reaches the highway on ramp.. but no. it does not.
So take a quick break from the interstate, a short drive and get 'One for the road'
