Coal Creek Track is a 3.6km return walk along a track classified by DOC as an Easy Walking Track.
The path gently descends though a mixed beech-podocarp forest with a stunning waterfall as your reward at the end of the track.
Several years ago it became necessary to re-route part of this track away from storm damage. There is a small low barrier to deter access to the older part but as nature reclaims it's own the forest floor becomes safe to navigate again.
The cache is placed just beyond this barrier.
There is a pencil in the cache but no room for trackables.
To get there:-
From Greymouth follow SH6 northeast for 8 km to Runanga. Turn right down Seddon Street and right into Ballance Street. There is a carpark at the end of Ballance Street.
Dogs are allowed on a leash only.
