Geocache Description:

This is a medium sized cache.

It's relatively easy to spot if you're looking for it.

Keep an eye out for an invasive species, it may be concealing the cache.

Congrats to Kev_MacD for finding this cache first!

We are the Invasive Species Council of Metro Vancouver!

The invasive plant you will see while seeking out our geocache is English ivy.

English ivy (Hedera helix) is an evergreen vine that is recognized as a serious, smothering invasive in much of southwestern BC. It quickly forms a dense monoculture groundcover that suppresses and excludes other vegetation, and is unsuitable for most wildlife habitat.

As a vine, it can completely engulf shrubs and encircle tree trunks of all sizes, leaving nothing uncovered. Shrubs shrouded in ivy may eventually die because light can't reach their leaves. Furthermore, it can topple trees due to the added weight.

Keep an eye out for this invasive and others while you're geocaching!
