Geocache Description:

64 is an important number to know

The number 64 has a number of important references in history

Here are some....

The 1964 Aston Martin DB5 made the marque famous when it was used by James Bond 007
The 1964 Ford releases their Mustang, which is still regarded as the most iconic Mustang of all time and was used by Steve McQueen in "Bullit"
In 1964 The Beatles held all 5 top 10 positions on the song charts - unprecedented!
Nelson Mandela is imprisoned and sent to Robben Island
Essentially the Vietnam War started when North Vietnam declared war on South Vietnam and the USA started sending their troops to help with the fight
South Africa is banned from the Olympic Games due to segregated teams
Mary Poppins has its world premier and was to be the first Disney picture to be nominated for Best Picture
Northern Rhodesia sheds its Colonial control and becomes the independent Zambia
1964 also marked the first flight of the iconic SR-71 from Lockheed, known as the Blackbird
The Pontiac GTO is launched and was then named the first "muscle car" before Pontiac, Ford and Chevrolet started a decades long battle for supremacy on the roads

but there are also some other importances apart from dates....

64 is a number on the London Underground
It is the evolution of the 8088 processor to the 64-bit Intel processor that led to 64-bit operating systems
Remember the Commodore 64?
And the Nintendo 64?
Crayola brought out a box of 64 coloured wax crayons with a sharpener included!

There are HUNDREDS of examples where "64" is used and no-one knows why really.....

This cache is my 64th Traditional cache that I have placed, by the way.....
